Taking into account pricing, fuel economy, and interior space, we compare the 2022 Mazda CX-5 to the 2022 Mazda CX-30.
Pricing
There is no doubt that the 2022 Mazda CX-5 is more expensive than the CX-30. Below is a table showing the actual price difference between the CX-5 and the CX-30. It’s also worth noting that both models come standard with all-wheel drive, and not just any AWD system, the advanced i-ACTIV AWD system. This is particularly impressive in the 2022 Mazda CX-30 as very few of its competitors offer standard AWD.

The CX-5 definitely has the advantage here as it offers more space for your passengers and more cargo space as well. This is probably where most buyers make their final decision. For some, the space inside the CX-30 is plenty while for others, they need the added space offered by the CX-5.

Performance
In terms of performance, both the CX-5 and CX-30 are offered with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine or a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The latter delivers up to 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque in each model, but the CX-30 will have the advantage here because it is lighter. The turbocharged CX-30 is a very unique vehicle in its segment, offering the kind of performance that is usually found in much more expensive vehicles. The CX-5 Turbo has the most power and torque of any compact SUV.
The 2.5-litre four-cylinder will deliver 187 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque in the CX-5, and 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque in the CX-30. The actual performance will be just about identical, however. The only real difference is that the CX-30 comes with a standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. This will be the most efficient engine in this comparison, but below you find how both 2.5-litre engines compare.
