The features
The 2022 Mazda 3 is equipped with a host of features that make it compare favorably with vehicles from luxury brands that cost much more. For example, the entry-level GX comes standard with an 8.8-inch center screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rain-sensing wipers, heated front seats, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring and much more. The up level GS adds the dual zone automatic climate control, the heated steering wheel and some additional driver assistance systems. An optional luxury package comprises of a leatherette interior, a moonroof, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, among others. The top-of-the-line GT adds a 12 speaker Bose audio system, leather upholstery, the navigation system, the 360 degree camera system and traffic jam assist.
The powertrains
The 2022 Mazda 3 offers a choice of three fuel efficient engines, two transmissions and an available i-activ all-wheel drive system. This system makes for a more dynamic vehicle since the power is able to be used more efficiently, without causing wheelspin and it increased the foul-weather driving capabilities of the Mazda 3. The GX comes standard with the 2.0L Skyactiv engine which develops 155 horsepower. This engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic unit, both with front wheel drive. The GS is powered by a 186 horsepower 2.5L four-cylinder engine which puts its power down to either the front wheels or to all of the wheels through the automatic transmission. The GT gives you the choice between the same 186 horsepower engine or its turbocharged version, which can produce up to 250 horsepower when using premium grade fuel. The automatic transmission is standard and the turbocharged engine is only paired to the AWD system.
