How the 2022 Mazda CX-5 differs from the 2021 Mazda CX-5
November 30 2021,
The 2022 Mazda CX-5 received many changes that freshened up its style and added many important standard features to make it even more appealing.
More standard features
The biggest improvement to the Mazda CX-5 for 2022 is the addition of i-activ all-wheel drive to the standard equipment of every model, a rare occurrence in this market segment. This makes to CX-5 more competent and fun to drive both when the road is dry and when it is slippery. The capability of all-wheel drive means you can also be more confident behind the wheel when the road turns to ice due to the added stability provided by the system, which reacts instantly to any detected wheelspin. In addition, the drive mode selector is also now standard and it allows you to fine tune certain parameters of the engine and transmission tuning to provide a more dynamic or a more economical driving experience. The suspension has also been reworked to provide better comfort and handling.
Revised styling inside and out
The 2022 Mazda CX-5 wears a new style that brings its appearance to modernity without straying too far from the brand’s known and appreciated design language. To do so, many elements have been altered, notably the grille, the headlamps, the taillamps and the wheel designs. On the inside, the dashboard has been reworked and the seats are of a brand-new design that is more comfortable on long and short drives than the model that was used previously. The resulting package gives the CX-5 a more premium look that brings it in line with the rest of the newly updated Mazda models and it previews the direction in which the brand is going for its future models. The 2022 Mazda Cx-5 is a much more refined vehicle because of those styling changes and some tweaks to the mechanical components and it now compares favorably with vehicles that cost a lot more.
