The new 2023 Mazda MX-30 will be available to buyers in Ontario starting next year
December 06 2022,
Previously reserved for British Columbia and Quebec markets, the new Mazda MX-30 EV will go on sale next year in Ontario. The impressive new Mazda MX-30 promises to exceed your expectations with its quick charging capability and unique design, but more importantly with how it behaves and drives. The MX-30 might be an EV, but it was designed for and foremost to be a great vehicle that happens to have an electric motor.
All the range you need every single day
Mazda understands that most electric vehicle owners won’t be driving over 100 kilometres on a regular basis. Moreover, Mazda understands that range is important in an EV, but even more important is how quickly the electric vehicle charges. If your EV charges quickly, you won’t really care about how much range you have, much in the same way you don’t really care how much range your gas-powered vehicle offers because you know if you are running out of fuel, you can simply fill up the tank. The MX-30 ultimately offers the same idea. Thanks to its smaller battery, the MX-30 can charge in half the time of a traditional EV.
The Mazda MX-30 provides 1 60 km of range, good enough for 99% of your daily commutes. On the other hand, the 35.5 kWh battery in the MX-30 can be charged on a level II charger in just over three hours. On a level III charger, you can charge the battery in under one hour. That allows you to get back on the road quickly. With nearly twice the charging speed of a traditional electric vehicle, the MX-30 isn't hampered by having a little bit less range.
Think of it another way. Imagine you have an electric vehicle with 400 kilometres of range that needs 9 hours to charge, and the MX-30 with 160 kilometres of range that needs just over 3 hours to charge. If you have to drive 500 kilometres, you will get there as quickly as the EV with more range, or even sooner.
