Three Ways The 2023 Mazda MX-30 Surprises and Delights
May 26 2023,
The 2023 Mazda MX-30 is the perfect mix of everything you love about Mazdas – it has the chassis tuning, the looks and interior quality Mazda’s always been known for but now it all comes wrapped around an advanced battery-electric vehicle (BEV) platform. With the MX-30, not only do you get the fun, but you get the efficiency and savings as well.
Modern Interior With Classic Touches
The first thing that catches the eye when glancing inside the 2023 Mazda MX-30 is the advanced dual-display centre console. The topmost display measures eight inches and is your go-to for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation and audio controls. Below that, we find a seven-inch display that is where you’ll find the climate controls and heated seats.
It helps make for a low-clutter affair, which allows the “floating” centre console to really stand out, looking almost like a piece of art and allowing for storage below it and behind it and creating an airy ambiance. In some trims, the surfaces used for your phone, wallet or sunglasses are finished with luxurious and natural cork, cork production being one of the first businesses Mazda was involved in before they started building cars.
Finally, the way you enter the rear seats is also unique; the MX-30 is technically a four-door but the two rear doors are rear-hinged for easier access to the rear seats. That’s not something you see very often this day in age this side of pickup trucks.
EV Powertrain
Power for the MX-30 comes courtesy of an EV motor with a 35 kWh battery pack, good for 143 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, sent to the front wheels via a responsive direct-drive transmission. Perhaps most importantly for EV buyers, it also provides over 160 km of range – which is what Mazda claims. Drive carefully and make judicious use of the adjustable brake regeneration system – adjustable via wheel-mounted paddles – and you could see even more than that. Plugging in to a level III DC fast charger, meanwhile, provides a 20-80 per cent charge time of just 25 minutes.
If you are looking for a more enthusiastic drive, the MX-30’s powertrain is up to the task as well, with direct power delivery and smooth acceleration.
Mazda e-GVC Technology
On many of their vehicles, Mazda uses G-Vectoring Control to improve both the ride and handling. Being an advanced EV, the MX-30 gets a specialized version of this tech, called e-GVC.
With e-GVC, the brake regeneration system is also used to meter out the power delivery when you start to turn the wheels, in an effort to keep the car balanced, responsive and the occupants more comfortable inside.
The 2023 Mazda MX-30 is an advanced EV that is the perfect companion for hard-working families looking to reduce their carbon footprint in a unique way. You’ll know it as soon as you step inside the 2023 MX-30.
